  • Flyers Players Returning to Play

Last year the Valencia Junior Team, known then as the Vipers, struggled for consistency. They showed signs of brilliance when they took the League Champ Polar Bears to overtime and down the stretch they won six in a row, still came up short of the playoffs.

Going into the 2007-2008 season and with the Main Camp scheduled for August 24-26 in Valencia, the Flyers are already anticipating a solid roster to be wearing the new uniforms. Several key players from last year’s squad are returning and anxious to pick up where they left off last season. Solid defenseman Kevin Lapp will be back to hold down the blueline, along with Anthony Kendryna, last year’s second leading scorer and speedy forward Tyson Cox who was a late season addition from Boise last year.

Two years ago Tony Torossian represented the Valencia based team at the WSHL All Star game. He went away to play in Maine last year and has decided to stay home and play for his old team this year along with Andrew Monesi who was Tony’s teammate two seasons ago. Both Andrew and Tony will add that veteran leadership to the Flyers that was desperately missing a year ago.

The core is solid and the future looks bright for the Valencia Flyers in 2007-2008.At the Main Camp the final roster will be selected and training camp will begin right away. It already looks like it will be an exciting season!

  • Flyers Roster taking shape as team prepares for Main Camp

Now that the waiting is over and the Flyers, along with their counterparts in the WSHL, have been granted Junior A Tier III status, the most important task of all is underway, the building of the Flyers Team Roster.

With the new elevated level of league play comes the obvious necessity of recruiting and ultimately rostering players who can make that jump and compete for the Flyers. “The team is beginning to take shape “said assistant coach Jim Marvin, when asked how the recruiting was going. “We have a very solid core already signed and a number of exciting prospects coming to camp next month”. Marvin went on to say.

The Flyers Main Camp will take place at Ice Station Valencia August 24-26. Players will be attending on an “invitation only” basis.
