As the dust settles on the 2008 Valencia Flyers' main tryout camp, optimisms is running high.
The Flyers' 2008 main camp concluded on Sunday August 17th, with a full 60 minute scrimmage between the 38 prospective players in attendance. After battling it out for one of the twenty-five roster spots at the last skate, players made their way through exit interviews with the coaching staff to find out if they had made this year's roster. Afterwards the Flyers' staff and newly selected players were excited with what camp had delivered.
"Camp went extremely well," exclaimed Flyers' Head Coach Chris Hartly. "We had a good idea of what to expect from camp, but what we actually ended up with out of camp really surpassed our expectations."
The Flyers will now have about four weeks of practice and exhibition games leading into their season-opening home series against the Capital City Thunder September 19-21 at Ice Station Valencia. And although there are still a lot of unknowns before the season actually starts, it seems that everyone around the team is excited about the potential for this year's team.
"I am really looking forward to working with my new team," stated new rookie forward Daniel Chang. "I am very excited for that first game and to see what we can do on the ice together. It's hard to wait that long, but we look pretty strong and I think that having that extra time to prepare for the season and to start bonding together will make it go by fast."
The Flyers will start practicing this week and will continue to have 3-4 ice workouts per week until the season opener. For ticket information or a game schedule please visit www.valenciaflyers.net or call (661)775-8686.
